Greetings to you and yours as we head into July 4th weekend. I hope you have a happy and safe Independence Day. PLEASE remember to pause and send a prayer or kind thought to our troops overseas
Walt and I have had a good and busy year, and are just back from a month-long tour to the East Coast. Once again thanks to The Staten Island Irish Festival for a great weekend. This little festival is growing bigger every year.
Thank you to Sr.Jeanne of Sacred Heart Church for a great concert (Georgetown, CT), and of course Sr.Jane for the wonderful meals while there. Thanks to Chuck O' Conner and Bette Leary of Fairfield, CT for a great gig at The Gaelic-American Club.
My Alaskan hosts Pat and Mark Ryan, and sponsors Pat Beatty and Mike Sweeney, are always so kind whenever I visit our northern-most state. However, I am sad to say that I will not be returning this August as planned, but hope to do so again soon!
Walter and I had a fabulous time in Oahu, Hawaii last October; thank you to my dear friends Heidi and Mark Young for being such gracious hosts, and Bill Commerford and The Children of CelticKei for a most memorable visit.
Please look out for 11-year-old Hawaiian singer Kiana Ahovelo (Angel Of The Islands) who has just released her first CD by the same name. This little girl's voice should be considered a "national treasure", as she is a remarkable talent. Those of us who were lucky enough to hear her opening The Staten Island Irish Festival with "The Star-Spangled Banner" will know what I am talking about - I still have goosebumps!
